Lift Up Families Fighting Childhood Cancer

charity Feb 21, 2024

Friends of ours have a 12-year-old daughter, Melania, who is a cancer survivor.

This sweet kid is friends with our daughter, Giavanna, who is the same age, so this really hit home.

It was a terrible struggle at the time.

Seemingly endless chemotherapy treatments for Melania, which are traumatic for both child and parents.

Here is a photo of Sharon and Giavanna, with Melania and her mom, Cezanne, visiting Annapolis, Maryland in 2012.

I'm not going to get too detailed, but imagine holding down your terrified 4-year-old son or daughter while a doctor injects them with strong chemicals, in an effort to stop the cancer cells from growing inside of their little body.

It's utterly heartbreaking to think about.

The happy news is that Melania has been cancer-free for years.

But there are plenty of families that are currently fighting the biggest battle of their lives.

And this means newfound expenses, like hospital bills.

Oftentimes families need to replace wages that no longer exist since one of the child's parents had to quit their full-time job in order to manage their child's full-time treatment schedule.

There are also additional travel, lodging, and fuel expenses too.

Tragically, some children have lost the battle with cancer and their family has the financial burden of a funeral.

Sharon and I want to help ease some of this financial stress.

And that's where the Pediatric Cancer Foundation of the Lehigh Valley (PCFLV) really shines.

PCLV is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit foundation.

This great organization is dedicated to "helping children and families affected by pediatric cancer by providing free and unique programming and support during treatment, survivorship, and bereavement."

So I reached out to my friend Michelle Zenie, Executive Director at PCFLV.

I asked, "How can we help?"

We brainstormed a little.

I shared this idea about doing a "Lift Up Families Fighting Childhood Cancer" t-shirt fundraiser where we donate 100% of the profits to PCFLV.

We are fitness-and-nutrition coaches, so the words "Lift Up" would be a play on resistance training aka lifting weights.

I thought it would be extra cool to make the "I" in the word "LIFT" into a little dumbbell icon.

Michelle and her team said, "Let's do it!"

We have set a goal of raising $6,000 to donate to Pediatric Cancer Foundation of the Lehigh Valley.

Here's how you can help:

You make a small donation (averaging $20-30) and we send you a cool t-shirt as a "thank you" gift for your support.

By the way, there is no catch. You are simply raising awareness for young children with cancer.

Donate Here: ๐Ÿ™ http://bit.ly/LiftUpFundraiser

Just tell us where to send your t-shirt.

PCFLV gets 100% of the profits from your donation.

Deadline to order is February 27th.

Thank you for your support.

To your success,

Coach Joe

P.S. Once all the orders are in, we print and ship the t-shirts. So you can expect your shirt to arrive about two weeks after you order.
