Winter Phase 2: Week 7
Feb 11, 2024We're at the midway point in this training cycle.
My hope is that you are focused and ready to have a great week.
When I talk with 40+ men and women who are struggling, it's often based on misplaced expectations.
They look at what others are doing and measure themselves against what they see.
Online, they see someone else's highlight reel and that's the bar they expect themselves to reach.
But this is the wrong way to approach things.
If someone else says they lost two pounds this week or they're hitting 300 feet on the Versaclimber in under two minutes, well, it has no real bearing on you.
You have different circumstances, different goals and a host of other variables that are unique to you.
And no one bothers to brag about lower-back pain or needing five cups of coffee each day to feel normal... so, again, the highlight reel is not the right thing to measure against.
But I do think there is a way to establish expectations that does work:
Set your standards and meet them.
Decide what you need to do on a weekly or daily basis to get to the goals you have, then do those things consistently.
Don't settle for less than practicing mindful nutrition.
Don't settle for doing less than four training sessions per week.
Don't make decisions that will harm your health or cause you to feel depressed.
If you establish a standard of doing, it will compound over time and you'll get to the goals you seek...
...and you'll likely enjoy it a lot more, because you can win every day throughout the process by simply meeting that standard.

One more thing I wanted to share today.
As you get ready to tackle this new week of training, you might think the MAIN concept we teach is diet or exercise.
Nope.
It's belief.
“To be an overachiever you have to be an over believer.”
I do my best to consistently deliver this message to you.
That you are able to achieve your Ideal Body.
That you can do remarkable things.
That you can create your own story.
And it’s the message that I want you to hear today.
Believe that you can do great things.
Believe that the future is bright.
Believe that God can do immeasurably more than you can ask or imagine.
Believe that He has a plan for your life.
Be an over believer and then act in accordance with that belief.
You will reach all your goals, especially the health and fitness ones.
Whenever you are ready, I am here to help.
To your success,
Coach Joe
